The campaign theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Each for Equal’, an equal world is an enabled world. While we are each responsible for our own thoughts and actions, equality is not a women’s issue; it’s a business issue.

At G&C Mutual Bank, we’re proud of our amazing women who make up 65 percent of our team, with 35 percent in management roles. We invited three inspirational team members from across our business to share their insights on equality in the workplace.

RosannaRosanna Argall – Deputy CEO and Company Secretary

Rosanna has worked within the finance industry for over 20 years and has gained a broad range of experience across frontline operations, customer service, lending, administration, IT, marketing and human resources. Rosanna commented:

“G&C Mutual Bank fully supports equality by providing an inclusive environment where our female staff members are valued and encouraged to progress their careers. We recognise the difficulties faced by women in the workplace, such as managing a career with the demands of a growing family, and we aim to provide a supportive environment to help them succeed. As a values-driven organisation, we strive to live our values which include ‘teamwork’ based on mutual respect. We support #EachforEqual.”

In addition to her executive role at G&C Mutual Bank, Rosanna is a Fellow of the Chartered Secretaries Australia and Australian Mutuals Institute, a Councillor of the Mutual Banking Employers Association (MBEA) and Director of Australian Mutuals Foundation (AMF).

NicoleNicole Nigro – Business Improvement Officer

Nicole’s career with G&C Mutual Bank spans more than 15 years. Initially joining as Project Officer, she progressed from Senior Member Administration Officer to Member Administration Manager before being promoted to her current role as Business Improvement Officer. Nicole commented:

“At G&C Mutual Bank, I have never felt excluded for being a woman. During my career I have been encouraged to study and I have gained so much experience from different areas of the business. Having the opportunity to progress and the reassurance of a supportive environment are important for achieving equality in the workplace. I have definitely grown with the company and, as a working mum, I am able to balance the needs of my family and my career through flexible working.”

ShrutiShruti Shetty – Team Leader – Payments

Shruti joined our Paramatta Contact Centre in 2013 as a Member Relationship Officer, her first role in Australia and the start of her career. After relocating to the Sydney Service Centre, she progressed to Administration Officer before being promoted to Finance Officer and achieving the Team Leader role in December last year. Shruti commented:

“G&C Mutual Bank has grown from strength to strength and there are lots of opportunities for women who want to build a career. Our team environment is so supportive that I think of my team as ‘family’. Throughout my career I have been encouraged to study and progress, and while time for study is more limited now as a working mum, I am delighted to have achieved a financial services qualification and the Team Leader role.”

‘Thank you’ Rosanna, Nicole and Shruti for sharing your insights. Having highlighted the achievements of these three exceptional women, in the spirit of Each for Equal we are also celebrating the achievements of our wider team this International Women’s Day.
