Harmony Week

Every year on 21 March, people around the world come together to celebrate Harmony Week. This Australian initiative promotes inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all, regardless of their cultural or linguistic background. And in 2022, this has never been a more important message.

This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Harmony’, something that G&C Bank believes in doing every day of the year. We recognise that at the heart of what makes Australia such a vibrant place to live is our multiculturalism and respect for difference. We’re a nation that includes people from the world’s oldest continuously living culture through to the cultures of our most recent migrants from around the globe. Each plays an important part in what makes Australia such a great place to live.

Celebrating and promoting local and global harmony

Cultural diversity is at the heart of who we are as a nation and as a bank. Our focus has always been about treating people with a sense of inclusivity, respect and belonging, no matter their cultural or linguistic background.

One aspect of how we are doing this is through our membership of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV). The GABV’s goal is to create more transparency in the banking system and actively support economic, social and environmental sustainability. As a member of the GABV, we are committing to the practice of values-based banking and the creation of a global financial system that promotes social equity, responds to the climate emergency and delivers true and lasting prosperity and well-being for all. We’ll share more on GABV over the coming months.

Working with integrity and with human dignity are at the core of G&C’s Mutual Bank’s operations. By setting an example, we aim to help create a more harmonious financial system for communities everywhere. For us, it’s a powerful way to celebrate and promote harmony here in Australia as well as in nations around the world.
